6 th Head Swiss Championship 2008.

With temperatures like in winter 0° Celsius on Sunday morning, 21Expert and 36 Amateur drivers was coming at the race track in Langenthal/Switzerland for their last Swiss Championship 2008.
Because of strong increase tire consumption in the past few years, they laid a new, slippery asphalt layer onto the race track. To get again grip on the runway, plenty of sugar water, or better said, "Coca Cola" was sprayed to the ideal line. Besides these "Coke" track the liability was very poor, which led in the first training sessions often to spectacular "departures".
The focus in the Expert qualification was pointed on the local junior driver Simon Kurzbuch. With a JP-Eagle R9s, he whipped his model to a new lap record and track record. In second place, also with an Eagle R9s, Thomas Henzi. He also was below last year's track records!
In Expert class the Swiss Championship was already firmly. But in the class Amateur the decision should fall in this race. Three drivers still had the chance to compete for the title fight. With the worst cards, the Velox - driver Stephan Eschler. Only the full score could still help him to the title. In the last qualification heat, he set as a TQ the basis for this project.
At the end of qualification the following driver were the direct-qualified.
Amateur Class :
1 - Eschler Stephan  - 23Laps  - 05:08.133
2 - Pacor Ender  - 23Laps  - 05:08.545
3 - Pasquin Claudio  - 22Laps  - 05:03.953
4 - Lüdi Pascal  - 22Laps  - 05:08.213
Expert Class :
1 - Kurzbuch Simon  - 24Laps  - 05:05.418
2 - Henzi Thomas  - 24Laps  - 05:07.761
3 - Pethoud Christophe  - 24Laps  - 05:11.752
4 - Pesenti Mattia  - 24Laps  - 05:12.300

On Saturday evening the Langenthal club invited everybody to free risotto in their clubhouse.
They celebrated the excellent qualifications of Simon and Thomas until the early morning hours on Sunday extensively.

The Sunday finals:
As usual in Langenthal, the famous speaker Hanspeter Gerber  informed the numerous spectators with lots of interesting information and great expertise through the individual races.
While Stephan Eschler in the start up phase of the Amateur finals was not irritated from the fast start of Ender Pacor, early in the race the "defect devil" struck down Claudio, one of the three title aspirants. After 10 minutes Stephan positioned with its Velox at the forefront of the field and kept that leadership until the end. Now there was only a question: Either "Stephan Eschler" or "Pascal Lüdi"! Toward the end of the final run, the engine of Pascal was "died" and the winner and Swiss champion in 2008 in the amateur category was fixed!
Then the Expert classe - the highest strain! Because of a "Stop & Go" - punishment for a jump start the TQ – Simon Kurzbuch - at the end of the field. What followed was "high end" model racing. Position by position Simon again struggled forward, and after the second tank stop, on the scoreboard the number 1 was lighted at first position. Absolutely faultless Simon turned his rounds and built his lead until closing up to two rounds. The sensational race of Thomas Henzi, also using a Eagle R9s, went almost down in the glitter of Simon Kurzbuch.
